A simple and easy raita that can be prepared in a jiffy!!!! This was a part of the Simple South Indian Lunch thali

You need:

Fresh and thick yogurt – 2 cups
Freshly grated coconut – 1/2 cup
Salt to taste

Coriander leaves to garnish

To season

Oil -1 teaspoon
Mustard – 1 teaspoon
Urad dal- 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves – a few
Red chilli -1, broken into 2

  1. Whisk the yogurt with salt.
  2. Heat oil for seasoning and add the ingredients mentioned under ‘to season’.
  3. When it splutters and the dal turns brown,pour into yogurt.
  4. Serve garnished with coriander leaves.

  1. I love raitas and make it with almost anything I can think of. Will try this next time. Sometimes my mom adds grated coconut to onion tomato raita.
