The bookmark page on my browser is getting lengthy with every passing day. I feel I can have blog just to post the bookmarked recipes and yet will never run out of posts! Well, starting a new blog is not possible as of now and hence I will have to post them here.Luckily Srivalli gave us a choice of doing a bookmarked theme for the final week of blogging marathon and I immediately took the opportunity of posting the dishes I have tried from my bookmarks.

So for Blogging Marathon #50, Week 4 , Day 1, with the theme Bookmarked recipes,I am posting this dry curry made with bread fruit.

Long time back, my SIL showed me a bag full of bread fruits and asked me if I had any new ideas of  how to use it. Having never made anything with it and never tasted it as well, I was clueless. She then asked me to take a few home to try out some dish with it,maybe add to gravies . I knew google would come to the rescue and took just one breadfruit to experiment.

I left in the fridge and almost forgot about it when one day I was
looking for a vegetable to make a side dish / dry curry and found this
in vegetable tray. The skin had light brown spots .I made up my mind to
cut it open and see if it was edible. It did look edible and that became
the chosen vegetable for the curry.

After googling for recipes with breadfruit, I came across one from Edible garden and decided to follow that recipe.

Then I thought , why not make a new side to go with steamed rice and searched the bookmarks and saw the curry leaves gravy
from Rak’s kitchen. After deciding what to make and I was still greedy
for more!I made one more rasam  from another bookmarked recipe and
it was past lunch time!

I was hungry yet I had 3 dishes to click and I was pretty pleased with what I prepared. Just while getting ready to get the set up ready for the photo shoot, I realized that my maid was nowhere in sight and I had completely forgotten about her!

She usually comes by mid morning and when I called her up, she replied that she would not be coming in that day as she was sick! I felt so dejected.

My jolly mood was gone and hunger and anger mode kicked in! A hurried photo shoot and a quick lunch later, I got down to doing the dishes and cleaning the house. This is one of those dishes that I will never forget!!!

So now, let’s get to the recipe…

I used:

  1. I don't think I have ever even come across this vegetable. It is nice that you got rid of 3 bookmarked recipes though you got to do the dishes later. I can totally understand the situation as that's what happens to me whenever I cook to blog and had to do the after clean up. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I completely understand how engrossed we get when doing something and it is not at all pretty when reality sets in ๐Ÿ™‚
Bread fruit thoran sounds delicious. I never tried that vegetable though.
