This is one of the best dipping sauces to go with Chinese steamed buns . Hua juan etc. There is no specific recipe as there are so many variations.

This is the one that I made at home and I was really pleased with the flavors. What surprised me even more was how much Lil Angel loved the flavor of the sauce. I was happy to see her dunk the Mantou into a bowl of this sauce and her face lit up with each juicy bite!!

I used:

Soy sauce- 1/8 cup
Vinegar- 1 tablespoon
Minced ginger- 1 tablespoon
Minced garlic- 1 tablespoon
Brown sugar- 1/4 teaspoon
Sesame oil- 1 teaspoon
Spring onion greens and sesame seeds to garnish

Take all the ingredients except the garnish in a jar and shake well for 5 minutes. Pout into a bowl and let it rest int he fridge for at least an hour. The more it rests, the better the flavor.Serve garnished withe a little spring onion greens and sesame seeds.

You can adjust the quantity of the ingredients to suit your taste. I have not added salt as the soy sauce was salty enough.

Take a look at all that was served so far on The Buffet On Table…

Bon Appetit…
