This post can be nicknamed- My Dream Dish! Yes it is a simple and egg-less bake, yet it is sort of dream-come-true bake.

Since the time I started this blog, it has been a great wish of mine to bake something with poppy seeds. Here we get the white / light brown colored one and they will not show up on the cake when bakes.

There are so many instances when I have been drooling over a lemon and poppy seed cake, dreamy eyed about the day when I would be baking the same in my kitchen.

And my wish / dream was fulfilled by dear Priya who asked us [BM buddies] what we wanted on her trip to India and I shamelessly asked her for black poppy seeds.

The sweet lady that she is got it for me and some of our friends . Though I could not meet her in person, she sent is across to another friend of our! So thanks to Priya and Priya ๐Ÿ™‚

As soon as I got my share of the poppy seeds, this was the cake that I baked and this cake lived up to my dreams and expectations.

This cake was tried, tasted and approved by Lil Angel and hence this is going to be the first post for Blogging Marathon # 60,Week 3 , Day 1 with the theme Baked snacks for kids.

I used:

Makes  around 12 cupcakes

All purpose flour- 1 cup
Black poppy seeds- 2 tablespoons
Sugar- 1/2 cup
Warm Milk-1 cup
Vinegar- 1 tablespoon
Baking powder- 1 teaspoon
Baking Soda -1/4 teaspoon
Salt – 1/4 teaspoon
Oil- 1/4 cup
Lemon – juice – 2 tablespoons [ depending on how tart the juice tastes]

To the warm milk add vinegar and set aside. It will curdle after a few minutes.

In a bowl, take the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and poppy seeds. Mix well.

In another bowl, take the curdled milk .Add sugar, oil, lemon juice.Whisk till sugar dissolves.Add this to the flour mixture and mix in gently.Do not over mix.

Pour into greased cup cake mould and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 15 minutes or till a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from mould after a few minutes and cool on a wire rack..

Delicious cupcakes are ready to be savored.

This cake joins Srivalli’s Kid’s Delight with the theme –Baked Snacks for kids which I am hosting here this month.

Bon Appetit….
