Mint Flavored Pattani / Peas Sundal Recipe with step by step pictures


Peas sundal – This is another mandatory sundal during Navarathi festival. I am posting sundal varieties this week as a part of protein rich theme for the Mega Marathon .I am looking for different ways of making sundal and ones that don’t seem monotonous.I remember seeing one such similar video recipes a few days ago but can’t seem to find it out.

In this sundal, mint leaves add flavor to the peas and it has very refreshing flavor. Even the kids loved it a lot when I packed this for their snack box.

Step by step method to prepare Mint Flavored Pattani / Peas Sundal Recipe

Soak the peas for 5-6 hours. I let them soak over night. Drain and discard the water.Take the peas in a vessel, add enough water and salt. Pressure cook for 4 whistles/ till done.Drain and discard the water.

Grind together tomato, mint, green chili. Do not add water while grinding. Keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it pops, add the ground paste and saute for a few seconds.

Put in the peas and salt if needed. Add grated coconut and mix well.

Mint flavored peas sundal is ready to be served.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Dried Peas
  • 1 number Tomato
  • 1/2 Small bunch mint leaves
  • 1 number Green chili
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Grated Coconut
Instructions

  1. You are really lucky that kids enjoy sundal in lunch box. My daughter has it very rarely. Between the mint flavoured sundal sounds so flavourful and I love it..
