Unlike yesterday’s post which yielded a creamy textured gravy sans butter , today’s recipe is prepared with a nice dollop of desi ghee that gives this dish a very good flavor!

I came across this dish in one of the Instagram posts of Spice Online India. Mullai had prepared it with green peas and potato .The dish looked so creamy and inviting that I was so tempted to try it out.I did not have green peas so used channa instead.

This gravy has south Indian influence and hence no kasuri methi. Also ghee is used and not cream.

Here is how to prepare Channa Potato Gravy Recipe

I used:

Boiled channa-1 cup
Boiled and cubed potato -1

Tomato-1,chopped
Green chili-1,slit
Ginger-a small piece
Garlic-2 pearls,chopped
Cumin seeds- 1 teaspoon
Coriander seeds- 1 teaspoon

Let’s prepare the masala paste first…

Heat ghee in a pan and add onion, ginger, garlic and green chilies, saute for a minute.Add tomatoes and add cook till soft. Now add cumin, coriander seeds

Cook this for another minute and cool.Transfer into a mixie jar and add garam masala.Grind to a smooth paste and keep aside.

For the gravy, heat ghee in a pan and cumin seeds. Add onion and cook till translucent. Add the ground masala paste.
