Leatherback and the Strange Place | Book Review

First of all, the thing that impressed me the most was how well the author has written a book for children that also holds the attention of adults too!

My 11 year old was the first to read this and was pretty thrilled! She finished it within an hour and wanted to share the story with me.I wanted to read it for the review so I begged her not to let out the story!

Going by the blurb, this is a story where a 100 year old tortie, a cat, a parrot look for Lolita – Sara and Neel’s mom who just disappeared one fine day!

This is a kids book and the author has done a good job of writing it in simple sentences but not too simple either. There are stories about the other characters in between and that makes it all the more interesting.

Until the very end, even I was not able to guess where and who had kept Lolita hidden and the reason behind her abduction was totally out of the blue!

Even more impressive are the fun activities in the book. There are pages for coloring, join the dots and even puzzles that the kids would love to do. And then there are nuggets of knowledge in the form of build your word power where a new word is English and other language are explained which in turn will enrich the kids vocabulary.

There are some illustrations in between that support the story line.

The story flows smoothly and is absolutely a delight to read

5 stars for this wonderful book not just for the story but also for the fun activities like coloring and puzzles and also the small nuggets of information in between.
