Until I came here I have never come across kumquat and when I saw them I gave them a pass as I was not sure how they would taste. Each time at the farmers market ,I would see them ,hesitate and then walk away.

One day when I was blog hopping,I came across Mary Moh’s Keep learning Keep smiling blog and found a lot of Chinese recipes. One of them was this drink from kumquat.

So the next time I went to the farmers market the first thing I did was to buy ½ a kilo kumquat and came home and prepared it.It pretty easy and tasted so good when I had it warm with a few pieces of cooked kumquat.Absolute delight in this cold weather!!

Here is what you have to do :

1. Clean kumquat, poke holes with a skewer and put them in a pan with water just enough to cover them.
2. Cook for 15 minutes tilla wonderful aroma spread around the house.Add a little water if needed.
3. Add sugar to suit your taste and simmer for another 10 minutes.

You can serve this warm or chilled. If the juice is strong dilute it with a little water but be sure to put in a few pieces of these mini delights into each glass to spoon out and relish.

Happy Cooking…
