Dear friends, even if you have received this award  earlier, please pass it on to other again….

Now to the fiery Red chilli pickle. This one was born out of my quest for spicing up hubby’s Palette.I had some fresh red chillies sleeping in the fridge for a long time and I thought it will be best to bring them out of their slumber.

I used:

Fresh red chillies- 200grams
Garlic-5 large cloves,minced/finely chopped
Tamarind pulp,thick-1 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Oil-1/4 cup
Mustard-1 teaspoon

1.Heat 2 Teaspoons of oil in a pan and put in garlic and red chillies.Saute till the red chilllies change color and just begin to char. You have to be careful while doing this coz the red chillies tend to burst. The fumes are also strong so switch on the exhaust and open up all the windows in the kitchen and don’t let your little one anywhere near the kitchen.Let it cool completely.

2.Grind the red chillies, tamarind pulp to a fine paste.

3.Heat the remaining oil in a pan and put in mustard.

4.When it crackles, put in the ground paste and salt.Cook till the oil oozes out.

5.Cool completely before storing in a jar.

Goes well with porridges and curd rice. Can also be savored with steamed rice and a dollop of ghee if you can brave the heat.

This goes to Nivedita who is hosting Complete my thali,an event started by Jagruti’s and Nive has chosen Pickles as the theme

Bon Appetit…

  1. Dear padmaja
Congratulations for receiving this award. You really deserve all the awards!
Thank you so much for giving me the award and I really feel honored !!!
I feel good that you liked the Karela subjee. Will be waiting for the spicy one.
    Have a nice day

  2. Thank you so much for sharing the award with me!

I can eat a full meal with this kind of super spicy pickle and rice, my hubby and kids don't eat very spicy food, the reason why I don't make much of fiery stuff.
