This post is a part of the main post that was made for Karnataka with the theme – Indian Food Odyssey where we visited 30 Indian states and Union Territories as a part of the Mega Blogging Marathon April 2014…

I invited my fellow bloggers to my house[virtually of course] and cooked a dish for each meal of the day….

The snack is a traditional Karnataka one and can be made at the drop of a hat! Well, it is really simple and quick to make….

I used:

Maida/ APF – 1 cup
Besan / chickpea flour- 1.4 cup
Curd -1/2 cup
Baking soda- a pinch
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves- a handful
Chili powder- 1 teaspoon
Coconut-cut into small pieces- a few
Cumin seeds- 1 teaspoon

In a bowl take the APF, besan ,salt and baking powder. Mix well and add curd.

Add
water little by little and mix to form a  lump free , thickish batter
like the one you see below. The batter should just fall off the whisk /
ladle and should not be watery.Add the cumin seeds, coconut pieces, chili
powder and coriander leaves.

Mix well and keep aside
for 15 minutes. Heat oil and drop spoonfuls of batter into the oil and
fry on medium heat till golden brown. Remove with a slotted ladle and
serve

Serve with coconut chutney and piping hot filter coffee….

Now, looking at this pic, I am sure you will be temped to have more….

Bon Appetit…
