Murungakeerai Podi | Drumstick Leaves Powder / Spice mix

A drumstick leaves- lentil spice mix that canbe mixed with rice as a part of a healthy meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Drumstick leaves
  • 1/2 cup Urad dal
  • 1/2 cup Moong dal
  • 1/4 cup Moong dal
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 10 numbers Peppercorns
  • 2 numbers Red chilies
  • To taste Salt

Instructions

  1. In a pan, roast the drumstick leaves. They will wilt and start turning crisp. Do this on low flame as the leaves might burn.Once done, transfer onto a plate and let it cool.
  2. In the same pan roast together urad dal, channa dal, moong dal, pepper cumin seeds and red chili. When the dal turns brown, remove from heat and transfer to a plate to cool
  3. Take the drumstick leaves, roasted dal mixture and salt in a mixie jar and powder. It can be made to a fine powder or a coarse one.The choice is yours.Once done spread on a plate to cool and then transfer to an airtight container.
