Sweet Poha Chivda | Sweet Aval Mixture Recipe

An easy to prepare neivedhyam for Gokulashtami.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Poha / Aval/ Avalakki
  • 3 tablespoons Powdered sugar
  • A handful Raisins
  • 10 numbers each Cashews and almonds, sliced
  • To deep fry Oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a kadai / pan and when it is hot , deep fry raisins till they puff up, drain and keep aside. Similarly fry cashews and sliced almonds till golden brown. Drain and keep aside.
  2. To the hot oil, add poha/ aval in batches and fry till they puff up and turn crisp. Drain and spread on a kitchen towel.


  3. While it is still warm, transfer to a bowl. Add powdered sugar, fried raisins and nuts and mix well. Let it cool completely. Store in an air tight container.

Recipe Notes

  • Adjust the sugar to suit your taste
  • A pinch or two of cardamom powder can be added along with the powdered sugar.
