Kadale Bele Sundal Recipe

A protein rich snack apt for tea time / Navarathri neivedhyam

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Channa dal
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Grated Ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Urad dal
  • 2 numbers Green Chilies, slit and deseeded
  • A few Curry leaves
  • A pinch Asafoetida powder
  • 2 tablespoons Grated coconut
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak channa dal for half an hour and drain and discard the water. Add water and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles / till just done. The dal must be cooked, yet have a bite to it.

  2. Drain the water and use it in dals / soups. Heat oil in a pan and addmustard, urad dal ,grated ginger, curry leaves and asfoetida powder. When the mustard pops, add the cooked dal and mix well.

  3. Add salt and grated coconut and give it a mix.

  4. Kadale bele sundal is ready!
