Kaala Channa Sundal Recipe

A simple protein packed sundal with kaala / black channa

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Kaala Channa
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Urad dal
  • 2 numbers Green chiles, cut and deseeded
  • A few Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak the kaala channa for 5-6 hours. Drain and take in a vessel with enough water. Add a teaspoon of salt and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles/ till done.Drain and discard the water. Keep the cooked kaala channa aside.

  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard , cumin seeds, urad dal, green chilies, curry leaves. Once the mustard pops and the dal turns brown, add the cooked kaala channa.

  3. Check for salt and add more if needed.

  4. Finally add grated coconut, mix well and remove from heat. Kaala channa sundal is ready to be served
