Jowar Ladoo Recipe

A healthy ladoo made with jowar, coconut and jaggery

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Jowar
  • 1/2 cup Powdered jaggery
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • Tutti frutti- as needed optional

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan and roast the jowar till you get a nice aroma. If you over roast it , some of it will pop but that's ok. The main thing is not to let the grains burn.

  2. Once the jowar cools, take it in a mixie jar and add powdered jaggery, coconut and grind to a powder.

  3. Immediately transfer onto a plate. Add tutti frutti / nuts and dried fruits and make balls.

  4. Serve / store in an air tight container.

Recipe Notes

  • You can use the regular jowar too.
  • Make the ladoo immediately after it is ground. The heat will help hold the shape. Towards the end of making the ladoos, they did not hold shape. I sprinkle a little milk and made ladoos. The last 3 ladoos that were made using milk to bind are a little darker in color compared to the rest. Check the collage picture  of the plate with the ladoos.
  • The yield will depend on the size of the ladoo.
