Verkadalai Chapathi | Peanut Spice-mix stuffed Chapathi

A tasty chapathi with a peanut flavored stuffing.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole wheat flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • 1/4 cup Peanuts
  • 2 teaspoons Roasted channa dal
  • 2 numbers Red chili ,broken
  • 1 teaspoon Roasted Cumin seeds

Instructions

  1. Take wheat flour, salt in a bowl.Mix well.

  2. Add water little by little and knead to a smooth non sticky dough. add a teaspoon of oil and knead once more.

  3. Roast peanuts on medium flame till the skin turns brown and small black spot appear. Let it cool. Rub the peanuts between your palm to remove the skin.You can also leave it on if you wish.Roast roasted channa dal / potukkadalai and red chilies till it turns brown.Cool and take all the roasted ingredients in a mixie jar.

  4. Powder the ingredients and transfer into a bowl. Add roasted cumin seeds and salt. Mix and keep aside.

  5. Take a small ball of dough and flatten it a bit. Place a tablespoon of the filling and bring the edges together.Roll out gently into a 4"-5" circle. Cook on a heated griddle till brown spots apprear on both sides. Remove from griddle and repeat for the remaining dough.

  6. Serve with a side of your choice.

Recipe Notes

  • If you have roasted peanuts you can use that directly without roasting it again.
