Apple Halwa Recipe

A simple Indian dessert made with apple.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Ghee, divided
  • 10 numbers Cashewnuts, broken
  • 4 cups Grated Apple
  • Sugar , as needed

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a pan and add broken cashews.Roast till golden brown and remove from pan. Keep aside.

  2. In the same pan add grated apple and cook till it thickens a bit. Add sugar. It we loosen up . Stir once in a while on medium heat. Add a little ghee.

  3. The mixture will thicken on cooking. Now add a little orange food color. Mix once again

  4. As soon as the halwa gathers into a single mass, add roasted cashews, mix and remove from heat.

  5. Apple Halwa is ready to be served!

Recipe Notes

  • Powdered cardamom can be added just before removing the halwa from the pan.
  • Choose an apple variety that is not too juicy.
  • Sweet apples work best.
