This easy Apple Halwa recipe is the second dish in the Sweets and Snacks series.
Halwa or Halva is a dessert that is not only famous in India but also other parts of Central and South Asia, Middle east and even African countries!
There are so many varieties of this dish like the Channa Dal Halwa , moong dal halwa ,Beetroot halwa, carrot halwa, Oats Halwa , Milk Halwa, etc.
There are instant halwas, stove top cooked ones, Microwaved ones and some cumbersome ones too.
My grandpa used to make a very delicious Godhumai Halwa. He was a person who never engaged in short cut methods and that reflected in his cooking as well.
He used to soak wheat and grind it to extract the milk and then use it to make halwa. Loads of ghee used to be added and stirred and stirred continuously. And the end result was something so delicious that would just slide down the throat! Oh how I miss him now!!
I have never tried this recipe as I am sure that it cannot even come anywhere close to grandpa’s halwa!
Anyway, today’s post is a quick apple halwa that does not require too much stirring or too much ghee but tastes yum!

I agree the old timers were very patient and stuck to their ideas of how food needs to be cooked and no compromises. This apple halwa is way too easy as compared to the grandpa’s version of halwa ๐ Looks delicious and I know for sure that it tastes awesome as well.
