Sometimes it’s nice to have a simple lunch for the weekend. And this sort of meal will be useful when we need to relax on a weekend yet enjoy a nice meal. This takes less time to prepare but makes for a filling and delicious lunch.

The meal has the following dishes

  1. Steamed Rice
  2. Paruppu Rasam – My mom’s style rasam made with homemade rasam powder
  3. Mullangi Thuvaiyal | Radish Chutney – A simple chutney that is sure to please the palate and the best part is, no one will guess it’s made with Radish!
  4. Greens stir fry – A simple and healthy side made that can be made with a wide variety of greens.
  5. Vegetable Briyani – Who can say no to this!! In this platter, I have shared the Chettinadu Style Vegetable briyani which is absolutely lip-smacking.
  6. Onion Raita
  7. Nendram Chips

The kids prefer something special on weekends, and Briyani falls under this category. The elders in the family are happy to have the regular lunch even on weekends.So I prepare such meals on Holidays and Weekends.

Preparing greens before cooking takes time, and on weekends, I prefer to spend less time in the kitchen. I clean and prep the greens the night before so that all I have to do the next day is wash and chop them. This saves a lot of time.
