Amla Curry Leaves Juice / Nellikai Karuveppilai juice Recipe is an excellent body coolant with tons of health benefits!
I have mentioned in one of the previous posts about mini lorries coming in to supply veggies and fruits. Last week, they came with loads of fruits and we were thrilled!
I saw a basket full of Amla / Indian gooseberry / Nellikkai and wanted to get a few just to try out this drink.
Lil Angel loves anything and everything tart and immediately reserved a few for her to eat with salt and chili powder mix.
For the past couple of months, though I want to try out new recipes, I keep putting them off even if I have the ingredients required or even if I cook with them, I am not in a mood to click!
But this time, I made this within a couple of hours of buying the gooseberries!
Apart from being used in cooking, curry leaves are also used in Ayurvedic medicine and are known to have anti diabetic, antioxidant, anti microbial, anti inflammatory properties. They are also know to keep hair shiny, long and healthy.
Indian Gooseberry or Nellikai is a rich source of Vitamin C.It is rich in fiber and has anti-cancer properties. It is also good for the heart.
This Amla Curry Leaves Juice Recipe also has a little bit of ginger and green chili for that spicy kick and overall it tastes wonderfully refreshing!
To prepare this Amla Curry Leaves Juice Recipe I used:
- Amla / Nellikai – 3
- Fresh Curry Leaves- a handful
- Ginger- 1″ piece
- Green chili- 1 small
- Chaat masala / pepper powder- as needed
- Sugar- as needed
Method:
- Remove the seed from the gooseberry and chop roughly.
- Take the gooseberry, ginger, green chili, curry leaves in a blender jar and grind to a fine paste .Add a little water if needed.
- Now strain and press out the juice.
- Add 2 cups water and chaat masala / pepper and sugar.
- Do a taste test and add water / sugar / salt to balance the tartness.
- Serve.
Note:
- The filtered concentrate can be stored in the fridge for a couple of day and diluted when needs to be used. But this tastes best when consumed immediately after preparation
- Use fresh gooseberries and fresh curry leaves

I boil the juice of amla and curry leaves in water and then drink it once it comes to room temperature. Will it loose its value onceit is boiled?
Hi! I don’t think it will lose its properties but do try the juice in its raw form too.

Just one question, can I use frozen Amla, because I can’t get fresh ones.
Please advise
Hi! If fresh amla is not available you can use frozen amla. Let it thaw and use it to prepare the juice.
