Pazham Payasam Recipe

Kerala style banana kheer using Nendaran / Nendaram variety banana

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 large Nendran Banana
  • 2 cups Milk or as needed
  • Sweetener to taste
  • Ghee roasted nuts to garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a pan. Add the sliced banana and saute till the color changes. Keep stirring gently so that the banana slices don't stick to the pan.

  2. Once done, Remove from pan and transfer to a mixie jar. Blend with a little milk if needed.

  3. Transfer to the same pan used to saute the banana slices.Saute for a minute and add milk, jaggery powder / karumbu sakkarai . Switch off flame

  4. Serve garnished with ghee roasted nuts.

Recipe Notes

  • Use Nendran / Nendram variety bananas. The taste will not be the same if other varieties are used.
  • The kheer will thicken on standing. Dilute with warm milk .
  • You can also add ghee roasted raisins.
