Recipe for the famous Palani Panchamirtham prasadam

Ingredients

  • 5 no.s Virupakshi banana [Refer note]
  • 2 tbsp Kandasari Sugar [Refer note]
  • 5 no.s Pitted soft dates
  • 2 teaspoons Rock Candy / Diamond Kalkandu
  • 10 no.s Raisins
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • A pinch Cardamom Powder

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, take banana and mash it with a fork.

  2. Add sugar and mix well

  3. Next add rasins, dates and sugar candy.Mix

  4. Lastly add ghee and cardamom powder and give it a good mix

  5. Cover and keep aside for a while for the flavors to blend.

  6. Tastes best after a day!

Recipe Notes

  • Virupakshi is a variety of banana.It is small in size. If it is not available you can use any small banana variety.
  • Kandasari sugar is non refined sugar . You can use jaggery powder or sugar instead.
  • Sugar candy is what we call Diamond Kalkandu in Tamil. You can use it or add honey / increase the quantity of jaggery powder.
  • Mash the ingredients well , only then it will blend well. I used a fork and it worked well.
