A simple side prepared with spinach/palak and dal.
Wash Moong dal and take it in a small pressure cooker/ Roughly chop palak and add it to the dal along with a few cloves of garlic. Pressure cook it for 10-12 minutes / till done. Mash well with a ladle/masher. Keep aside
In a pan, heat oil and add mustard, cumin, split urad dal, channa dal, curry leaves, and broken red chili and saute a little till the mustard pops and the dal turns brown. Switch off flame and keep aside
Add chopped onion and saute till light brown
Bring the mashed dal to a simmer and add sambar powder, salt, and sauteed onions. Mix well.
Palak dal is ready to be served with steamed rice.
