Cabbage Raita Recipe

A simple side for briyani and other flavored rice varieties.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Cabbage , finely grated
  • 2 cups Thick Curd
  • 1 Inch Ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 no. Red chili, broken and seeds removed
  • A few Curry leaves
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Steam or pressure cook the grated cabbage for a couple of minutes.

  2. Cool and squeeze out the water

  3. In a bowl, take the curd and whisk it well with salt.

  4. Add the cabbage and mix.

  5. In a small pan, heat oil and add the mustard, cumin, red chilies, grated ginger,curry leaves and when the mustard pops, pour over the curd mix

  6. Mix and serve garnished with coriander leaves.

Recipe Notes

  1. Grate the cabbage using the finest blade in the grater.
  2. You can also a few teaspoons of grated coconut to the raita.
