A quick sambar with greens that can be prepared in the pressure cooker.
Soak Moong dal in water for atleast 15 minutes. The dal will get cooked well and come together with the greens.Though this step is optional, I soak it as I start cutting the greens and onions.
Heat a pressure cooker and add oil. Once it is hot add mustard.As soon as it pops add onion and garlic and saute for a minute. Add curry leaves and broken red chilies.
Add chopped tomato and saute for a minute. Put in the moong dal along with the water used to soak it.Add turmeric powder and asafoetida powder.
Add Sambar powder,the chopped greens, salt and mix well. Add a little more water if needed.
Cover and pressure cook for 15 minutes and let the pressure release naturally. Open the cooker, stir well to mix and transfer to a serving vessel.
Serve the Keerai sambar with steamed rice.
