I guess my little girl has inherited my love for books. It is a complete pleasure to surprise her with books and I really enjoy watching her face light up when she sees the new book that I got for her.
So last month I ordered a loot of a bookstore from an online shop and I had a few books ordered for the kids as well.I wanted to surprise them with a snack made from their favorite ingredient as well . u
I had some cooked pasta from the night before waiting to be used. So I turned that into a snack. This is something that kids and adults would love to munch on.
This dish goes to Blogging Marathon #58,Week 2, Day 2 with the theme – Pasta dishes.
Also sending this to Srividhya who is hosting Srivalli’s Kids Delight event, with the theme Pasta for kids
I used:
Cooked pasta
Bajji Bonda mix- as needed[see note below]
Oil to deep fry
Curry leaves – a few[optional]
Chaat masala as needed
TAke the cooked pasta in a bowl and add the bajji bonda mix.Toss to coat and sprinkle water little by little and mix gently with a fork so that the powder coats the pasta.
Heat oil for deep frying and drop a lump -about 4-5 pastas into hot oil. Deep fry till crisp.[ It took a little longer to cook than the normal pakoda].Drain.Repeat for the remaining pasta.
Into the same oil put in the curry leaves. It will splutter a bit, so be careful. Switch off the oil as soon as you drop in the curry leaves. It will turn crisp immediately. Drain.
Serve the pasta pakoda garnished with fried curry leaves a dash or two of chaat masala.
Need I tell you that the kids fell in love with the snack and the books ๐
Note:
If you don’t have bajji bonda mix, add 1/4 cup besan and 1/8 cup rice flour, salt, red chili powder and a pinch of asafoetida powder. Make a mix of these ingredients and add to the pasta. The quantity of flour mix will vary on the quantity of pasta used.Adjust accordingly.
