Baked snacks are way healthier than their fried counterparts. If the baked version is as good,or even better, then the baked version becomes a family favorite!
This dish is one such example. Nei Kadalai has nothing to do with nei /ghee.It is a deep fried snack made with gram dal.
I tried baking it and the result was truly stunning! Lil Angel loved it so much that she kept reaching out for the bowl repeatedly!
This is the second post for Blogging Marathon # 60,Week 3 , Day 2 with the theme Baked snacks for kids.
I used:
Gram dal / Kadalai paruppu – 1/2 cup
Oil-1 tablespoon
Chaat masala to taste
Salt to taste
Soak the dal for an hour. Drain and spread on a cotton cloth to dry.Take it in a bowl and add the oil .Mix well. Spread on a tray covered with foil and bake at 180 degrees for 10-15 minutes or till the dal turns light brown. It will be a little soft as soon as it is out of the oven but it will turn crisp after it cools down.
Before serving sprinkle salt and chaat masala…
