The final dish for Blogging Marathon #95, Week 2, Day 3 is this Tawa Yam Fries Recipe, a simple crunchy fry using yam and very little oil!
I am going to the recipe straight away as I am already so sleepy and it will be a new day in a few minutes and I am fighting to keep my eyes open to type this post!
Well, this is one of our family favorite and an awesome side with steamed rice and rasam / Kuzhambu.
Step by step method to prepare Tawa Yam Fries Recipe
Peel, wash and chop yam into small, thin pieces. In a vessel add water , the yam pieces and turmeric powder and bring to a boil. Simmer for a few minutes.When cooked al Dente, drain and discard the water.
Take the yam pieces in a bowl, add rice flour, chili powder and salt. Mix well. Place the yam pieces on a tawa and cook in batches till both sides are crisp,drizzling a little oil. Remove from tawa and repeat for the remaining batch.
A dry curry with yam made with very little oil.
- 200 grams Yam,peeled and sliced into small ,thin pieces
- 2-3 Tablespoons Rice Flour
- 1 Teaspoon Rice Flour
- Salt to taste
- Oil as needed

This yam fries is a delicious one.I remember my mom used to make these during our growing up years. I have never made this though.
Those tawa yam fries look so inviting and addictive. I can see myself snacking on these by the bowl fulls 🙂
Those yam fries sound tempting, PJ. I don’t why I don’t buy yams though I grew up eating it. I think I should go and buy some to try this. 🙂
