I was on a month long blogging hiatus. The blog got little of my attention as all that was directed towards keeping the kids engaged and entertained through out the vacation which was two whole months!! The kids were happy but I was totally exhausted by the end of the day. So blogging had to take a back seat. I am not complaining though. It was nice to try out new things with the kids- be it in food or other activities. Now that they are back to their routine, I am back to posting with this summer cooler which is the theme for Blogging Marathon #65, Week 1 ,Day 1. This also goes to Srivalli’s event that I am hosting this month themed – Summer Coolers.
The low point this year was that summer was extremely unbearable. We could never venture out during the day and the kids got restless when asked to stay indoors. At times I felt the dish would get cooked if I just left the
ingredients on the counter! Never before have we faced such an extreme
climate!!So,I managed to cook some really easy and cooling stuffs where I spend minimal heat in the kitchen.
Since the need to cool off was on everyone’s mind and I churned out all sorts of coolers for the family.A lot of juices and ice creams became a part of the daily menu.
Rose milk is the one drink that Lil Dude likes after orange juice. All other juices don’t even get tasted! So when I made rose milk, I served it with a small twist for Lil Angel while the lil one preferred it without the twist.
I added a teaspoon of soaked basil seeds to the rose milk and the light crunch that it gives makes it all the more delightful to drink.
I used:
Basil seeds / Sabja seeds- 1 teaspoon
Chilled Milk- 3 cups
Powdered Sugar as needed
Rose milk essence- a few drops per cup
- Soak the Basil seeds /sabja seeds in 1/2 cup of water till they swell up.
- Dissolve sugar in milk and add the rose milk essence.Mix well.
- Serve the chilled rose milk topped with a teaspoon of sabja seeds.
