Homemade Rose Syrup & Rose Milk Recipe with step by step pictures
Rose milk is easily one of the most favorite summer drinks! During my childhood, Coimbatore was my place for vacation where my cousin and I spent many a lazy summer reading books, nonstop snacking, and engaging in a lot of harmless fun, a lot of chit chat!
Back then there was little room for entertainment other than going out for movies, borrowing tons of books from the nearby library, and of course eating out occasionally.
My aunt used to take us out for a treat and it would always be Hotel Annapoorna’s most delicious Sambar vadai and Rose milk! One of the things that is still stuck to my mind is the gorgeous 2 layered rose milk we used to have at Hotel Annapoorna. They would serve the rose milk in such a way that the syrup was below and milk above and they mix only when we stir. The layering was so beautiful that many times I did not have the mind to stir it!
So during every visit to Coimbatore , I would look forward to having the rosemilk and later when we settled down here somehow didn’t get to have it as many times as I wanted and then, they stopped serving it layered. It came mixed and that sort of spoilt the fun experience.
I have told this story to my kids umpteen times and they are excited to hear ot every time. I decided to treat then to my childhood favorite and make the layered rose milk at home.
Sharmi had blogged about the same experience a long time back and I followed her recipe making slight changes to the quantity.I have been making this fo quite sometime and now its time to post it on the blog.
