Kaala Channa Sundal Recipe with step by step pictures
{Post updated with new pics on 18/9/2017}
Navarathri is fast approaching and it is time to brush up those sundal recipes.Sundal is one of the most preferred Neivedhyam and there are so many varieties to choose from.
As a part of September Mega marathon themed protein rich dishes, I have been doing a sub theme a week. First week was peanuts, the second week featured lentils.
For the third week, I was ready with another protein rich ingredient but realized that Navarathri is around the corner and needed a few more sundal varieties to add to my repertoire.
Hence this week’s theme is going to be different sundal varieties. Though the basic process is the same, there are many methods to prepare sundal and a variety of ingredients can be used.
This post was originally published in 2010 and at that time, I was more intent on recording the recipes rather than concentrating on the pics. Later I realized that a good pic is really necessary to please the eyes first and then only it will seduce the taste buds!
I have been packing different sundal varieties in the kids snack box instead of biscuits. Initially, they were a little skeptical to take these sundal varieties but now, they ask for it specifically!
Now let us go on to see how to make this healthy snack…

Like I said earlier sundal was an everyday dish at my place because of my picky eating younger brother. Amma used to make this with and without coconut and both were our favorites.
My mom makes this sundal on saraswati puja day during navarathiri. Your steps are almost the same as my mom makes. This is a delicious snack.
