Step by step method to prepare 3 ingredient Urad Dal Ladoo | Vegan , GF recipe
This is yet another easy breezy ladoo recipe. This was also prepare along with the 2 ingredient Peanut Ladoo recipe . It is so simple that it gets done in 10 minutes flat!
Well, I have been wanting to make these urad dal ladoos for a very long time since the day Padma made it for one of the blogging marathon meets. It was extremely delicious and I can still recollect that taste and texture.
When I wanted to make a dessert with lentil, which I have chosen to be the sub theme for this month’s Protein rich heme in Mega marathon, the first one to come up on the list was Urad dal ladoo.
But I did not have that much ghee at hand and so looked for another binding agent to hold the flour together. I remembered the sesame ladoos and used that as a base for this recipe.
I had prepared urad dal powder to make murukku. So on the day of making this ladoo , no cooking was involved. Just mixed the ingredients and made the ladoos. The key to help the ladoo hold its shape without the addition of ghee / milk is to shape them as soon as the ingredients are ground together. The warmth will help in holding the shape and when it cools, it becomes a perfect non crumbly dessert.
Step by step method to prepare the 3 ingredient Urad dal ladoo:
Take the sesame seed, urad dal powder and cane sugar in a mixie jar. Grind in short bursts till the sesame seed is well ground. Transfer to a plate / vessel. Immediately shape into balls .Store in an air tight container after a few minutes.
Delicious ladoos are ready!!
Note:
- If you find it a little difficult to shape pulse the ingredients again with a tablespoon of sesame seeds.
- This ladoo has a predominant urad dal flavor. If you are sure about this flavor, add more sesame seeds to mask the urad dal flavor.
- You can add cardamom powder / fried nuts/ raisins before shaping them into ladoos.
A simple and protein rich dessert
- 1/2 cup Urad dal powder
- 1/4 cup White sesame seeds
- 1/4 cup Cane sugar
