Step by step instruction to prepare Nendran Pazham Nurukku Recipe

While most of us are at home staying safe and trying to break the chain, there are some ignorant people who think they can go out as always during the time we are allowed to go out to buy essentials!

The more I see such pics being shared on media ,the more angry and helpless I become.I wonder what people are thinking and behaving like there is nothing to fear!

We have groceries open on alternate week days here till noon and the farmers market only in the mornings. But I rarely venture out.

We have vegetable / fruit trucks that come to our area and sometimes we buy fresh supplies from them.A couple of weeks back we got some Nendran pazham, a variety of bananas @ Rs. 100 for 4 kilos!

We promptly got 4 kilos thinking they would ripen slowly as the bananas looked raw and very green.

But within 2 days, the bananas ripened and we were wondering how to finish off such a huge batch. We did binge on the bananas but we still had almost a dozen banana left over and we were literally floored!

That’s when I turned to my Instagram account and asked the good folks there to give me suggestions on how to use up those fast ripening bananas.

And guess what, 90% of the readers suggested pan frying the sliced bananas with ghee and caramelizing it with jaggery.

So I thought I’ll start with the most popular choice and made a batch with a couple of bananas, saving the rest of the remaining suggestions.

As soon as I started pan frying the slices, the house was filled with such a delicious aroma and my elder one was instantly drawn towards to kitchen. That batch got clicked and devoured in a minute.

And then the cycle of pan frying and eating started all over again till there was just one fruit banana left, which we decided to keep aside for hubby.

Now we are waiting for the Nendran Pazham vandi [ truck which sells Nendran variety banana so that we can buy a huge batch and make this recipe and the other ones that were suggested.

This Nendran Pazham Nurukku recipe is native to Kerala as is the fruit. I method I have prepared may not be the traditional but we loved the these delicious caramelized banana bites. It is so easy to prepare and oh-so-yum!
