Tender Coconut Chia Cooler Recipe is an excellent body coolant especially during summer!

We were waiting for this day, May 3rd ,2020, so that we could get the news of some relaxation of the lockdown. But 3 days ago the news came that the center decided to extend the lockdown by another 15 days!

Though it made us a bit grumpy, we did realize that it was being done for the best and soon the mood changed.

We are sincerely hoping for things to get back to normal as soon as possible but deep within us, we do know that it will take a long time to be like before.

Even if things get back to normal, I don’t think most of us will be comfortable going out and eating or spending time in the mall window shopping or attending a get together. I, for sure, cant think of doing all these without a little worry. I’m not even sure if I will be comfortable eating out again or even order a take away!

For now, we are spending time together and coming out to the portico only in the evenings. The days are too hot and it feels better to stay indoor.

One of the things we enjoy especially during summer is Tender coconut water. Last week we harvested a huge batch of coconut from our trees and had a few tender coconuts taken down as well.

I have always been wanting to add something to tender coconut to make it more healthy / nutritious / tasty and I have already posted this Tender coconut Palm candy cooler and this time wanted to make something else.

So here is another cooling beverage – Tender Coconut Chia Cooler Recipe which tastes good and is also a great body coolant.

Tender Coconut Chia Cooler Recipe

I have added chia seeds and almond resin to the tender coconut water. You can also add palm sugar if you like to spike up the sweetness.

Chia seeds are now being referred to as a super food. It has a lot of health benefits as well. It soaks up a lot of water so helps the body be hydrated for longer periods.
The soaked and sprouted seeds are considered a better way to take them in as the nutrients readily/ easily available to the body.

Almond resin/Gum is also a body coolant and is usually added to the famous Jigardhanda and other beverages. A few pieces are soaked, usually for about 8 hours, and then added to the drink. It is basically tasteless and feels like jelly.

For this simple coolant, I used:

  • Tender coconut water- 250ml
  • Chia seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Almond resin – 1/2 teaspoon

Method:

  • Soak the Chia seeds and almond gum separately in 1/2 cup water. The Chia seeds and almond gum will bloom and increase in volume. Let it sit at room temperature for at least 1 hour to bloom.
  • Take a serving glass and place a tablespoon each of the chia and bloomed almond resin.
  • Pour the tender coconut water into the glass
  • Mix and serve.

Note:

  • You can store the bloomed chia seeds and almond resin in the fridge for a couple of days and use it by mixing with fruit juices / milkshakes.
  • Sabja seeds can be used instead of Chia seeds

  1. I think that I am hearing about the almond resin for the first time. You have really come up with a refreshing and healthy drink, to beat the summer heat. A great alternative to sodas and drinks loaded with artificial ingredients.
