I am sure everyone will love this potato and peas combo.Goes well with poori / Chapathi.
You need:
Potato – 2 medium sized,boiled ,peeled and mashed roughly
Fresh Peas – 1/2 cup,boiled
Carrot – 5 tablespoons,grated
Tomato – 1,finely chopped
Onions – 1,finely chopped
Green chillies – 3,slit lengthwise
Ginger- a small piece,chopped
Curry leaves-a few
Coriander leaves
Turmeric powder-1/4 teaspoon
Besan/Gram flour – 3 tablespoons
Salt- to taste
Seasoning:
Mustard seeds-1 teaspoon
Gram dhal-1/2 teaspoon
Asafetida-a pinch
Oil-1 tablespoon
- Heat oil in a pan and the seasonings ,ginger,green chillies,curry leaves.
- When done add onion and fry till translucent.
- Put in the tomatoes and fry till mushy.
- Next goes the grated carrot and fry for a few minutes and the potatoes and peas.
- Stir well and add salt and turmeric powder.
- Mix besan with a little water to a pouring consistency.
- Add this to the pan and bring to a boil.Simmer.
- It will thicken .Remove from heat.
- Serve garnished with finely chopped coriander leaves.
There is another method of preparing the same masal.

Coconut-1/4 cup,grated
Gram dhal– 3 tablespoons
Seasoning :
Mustard seeds -1 teaspoon
Gram dhal -1/2 teaspoon
Asafetida- a pinch
oil – 1 tablespoon
Soak gram dhal for an hour and grind it along with grated coconut,green chillies,ginger and jeera. keep aside.
Follow the previous procedure but add the ground paste instead of the besan.
