We are in Russia today as a part of the Culinary journey across the globe. When I wanted to
make a Russian Salad, I saw a paper clipping that I had preserved from
long back. The recipe was easy. Though potatoes are not the main
ingredient here, it does have a little bit of potato in the filling, so I
still stand on my grounds that I made a salad with potato as that is
the theme I am following from for this Marathon!
I used:
Bread slices
Mayonnaise-1/2 cup
Mixed boiled vegetable – Potato, baby corn, beans -1/4 cup
Grated carrot- 2 tablespoons
Finely chopped capsicum-1 tablespoon
Salt and pepper to taste
Cream – 2 teaspoons
In
a bowl, take mayo and cream and mix well. Add all the other ingredients
and mix.Check for taste and adjust seasonings. Spread on the bread
slices and serve immediately.
After spreading the filling, I toasted the bread. It tasted great…
This
recipe is from a paper clipping from The Hindu.I usually stick the
clippings on to some old / unused diary so that I need not look for them
and also the clippings won’t get crumpled.
This post is also for the Cookbook Challenge of the month – September 2014, Week 3
If it has potato it is a potato salad. ๐ mayo based salads taste great as sandwich spreads. Nicely done.
Nice choice from that clipping you saved. This is a hit salad and tastes amazing with or without bread.
we have survived on this for so long that it no longer feels russian…i remember as a child the craze for russian salad sandwich…they used to put pineapple in it first and then later dropped…and started calling it veg club
Wow, this Russian salad sandwich looks awesome and quite filling as well.
Wow rocking one PJ..and nice one for CCC as well…
Salad looks awesome and must have made a nice spread for the sandwich.
That is one simple and healthy salad sandwich.
mine was a non mayo version of the salad and sandwich option looks great !
This sandwich idea sounds delicious and had no idea that Russian do use coconut in a sandwich. ๐
what an interesting sandwich and bread slices look so good also. Is that a homemade bread you made?
I love this simple sandwish. Its something my kid can do.
