I have been posting several ideas for the kids lunch box over the past several months. This month in blogging marathon, one of the theme was Kids lunch box ideas and I jumped in to add more to this series which I have been doing.
Once in a while, the kids like have something other than rice/ chapathi / poori in their lunch box. At times like those, I make this type of podi idli and pair it with sambar.
Uthappam are slightly thicker than dosas so won’t dry out by the time they have lunch. Also sambar is a perfect pair for this tiffin. The onion and podi / spice mix makes it all the more tastier.
The sambar is pressure cooked in one go , so it is very quick to prepare even on busy mornings.

healthy combination. We generally have it with coconut chutney. I am still to try podi
Uthappam is a nice idea for lunch boxes, though my girls like it hot, rather than in their lunch box! The podi idea sounds really good…
After looking at that podi uthappam I am craving to eat some..seriously it looks so good.
A yummy lunch option. Though I don’t have school going kids I like your pressure sambhar.
Must agree nothing like this to pack for lunch when kids love it..my boys are refusing for dosas these days..:(
I love any SI dish and this uttapam looks so delicious.
what a fabulous lunch for kids or adults!
