This recipe is the second version the Instant Ragi Rava Dosa Recipe and comes with step by step pictures

Idli and Dosa are part and parcel of our household!Though Pongal, kichidi and poori are also some of the dishes that we like,my folks are partial towards these two!

So whenever the Idli / Dosa batter box is empty, I come up with some instant dosa and idli varieties so that these two dishes are never missed!

One such experiment is this Ragi Rava Dosa Recipe that I made using a couple of ladles of left over batter.Rava dosa is my favorite and I used Ragi flour to make this breakfast a part of the Mega Marathon with the theme – Explore the flavors where I have chosen to showcase Whole grains with a spotlight on Millets.

Before we go to the recipe here are some facts…

  • It is also called finger millet ,African millet

Author: PJ
Ingredients
  • 1 cup Leftover Idli/ Dosa batter
  • 1 cup Ragi Flour
  • 1/2 cup White Rava
  • A few Curry leaves Chopped
  • 1 Onion Chopped
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
Instructions
  1. Take the dosa batter ,Ragi Flour ,rawa, salt, chopped curry leaves, shopped onion, cumin seeds in a bowl.

  2. Add water little by little and make a batter of pouring consistency. Whisk well so that there are no lumps.

  3. Heat a griddle, add a teaspoon of oil and spread oil all over the griddle with a cut onion. This is done to season teh griddle and the dosa will not stick to the pan / griddle.

  4. Now pour batter in a circle but do not spread. There should be a lot of holes in this dosa. Cover and cook on low flame for a minute. Then gently flip it over and cook for a few seconds and remove from the griddle.

  5. Serve hot with sambar / chutney  or a side of your choice

Recipe Notes
  • Seasoning the pan with cut onion is optional. But I always do it as the dosa will not stick to the pan.
  • You can adjust the proportions of the ingredients
  • Grated carrot can be added to the batter.
