After a days break, I am back with yet another paratha in the A-Z series of Indian flatbreads. This Hari Mirch ka Paratha | Green Chilli Paratha Recipe was chosen after I made plans to prepare something, for the alphabet – H ,on the lines of ‘Hara bara’ or ‘Haryali’ ,by adding a lot of greens to the paratha.
I knew these would be the words of choice for quite a few members in our group[I need to go and check if what I thought was correct!] so I went with Hari mirch meaning green chili.
Initially I was skeptical as I am not fond of adding too many green chilies to dishes. Then when I read that it has to be sauteed, I knew the heat would be mellowed by the cooking and that it would taste great.
Nigella seeds adds a nice flavor to this paratha and a cup of buttermilk is the best choice of side. It can also be served with a raita of your choice.
Step by step method to prepare Hari Mirch ka Paratha | Green Chilli Paratha Recipe
Take the whole wheat flour in a bowl and add a little salt and mix well.
Add water little by little and knead to a smooth ,non sticky dough.Add oil and knead one more ,cover and keep aside.
To make the filling, deseed and chop the green chilies finely. Heat oil in a pan and put in nigella seeds. After a few seconds, add the chopped green chilies and saute for a couple of minutes.Remove from heat and keep aside.
Pinch out a small ball of dough and roll it out into a circle.Place a small portion of the filling in the center and bring the edges together.
