In a world with increasing stress, lifestyle imbalance, new age challenges and health hazards, ‘wellness’ is the new God everyone’s seeking. While adults have infinite choices and options to course-correct paths, the young adults, though have increasing incidences of mental and physical health challenges, have little or almost no aids to holistic health and wellness.

With increasing juvenile obesity and depression hitting the teens, there is a dire need to address the same. The book is based on addressing just that in a contemporary, light-hearted fashion.

Split into 3 sections: Mind, Body and Spirit, the book offers truths in each category that seed the idea of wellness in a fun and engaging way. What better than a ready reckoner for young adults to get by their highly stressful daily lives in a more meaningful, healthier and stimulating manner. A companion of sorts, the book aims at delivering well-being to the troubled young souls.

As the title suggests, this book has 150 ideas. It is ideal for teens and also their parents. As a mother of a soon to be tween kid I picked up this book to get an insight of how to handle kids as they grow into their teens.

The book is divided into 3 section

  • Mind your body
  • Mind your mind
  • Mind your spirit

each having 50 points.

Mind your body deals with stuffs right from how to handle smelly feet, the girly days, the eat out syndrome, skin and hair care, crash diets to exercises.

Mind the mind has points on anger management, how to value money, practicing honesty, social sensitivity etc.

Mind your spirit deals with things like random acts of giving, go green, explore your roots, be human , seize the moment etc.

I liked the idea of putting down the thought as quick to read points instead of beating around the bush. This makes it an read interesting

There are sketches on each page.Though they are in black and white, it does brighten up the page!

At the end of each section, there is a 15 point affirmation which are motivational and inspiring.

There may be some issues that the parents may not be able to speak to directly with the teenager or may not be able to speak to them in a manner in which they will sit and listen.Such issues are dealt with in this book as simple pointers . Now, instead of finding a way to talk them into or out of a certain issue / habit, the teen can be asked to read this book and I think we will get an effective solution.

There are plenty of pointers that will add value in the kids life, like how to appreciate the parents hard earned money, never look down on the have-nots, how to treat the senior citizens etc.

In our society today, a lot of kids are growing up without the basic etiquette. This book will really help them to be a better person when they grow up.

It also gives pointers on how to stay on the right track by not giving into peer pressure and how not to be led in the wrong direction.

The book talks about everything from how to day good by to junk to things like sex – an expression, a topic that is still considered a taboo in our society!

The language is simple and easy to understand. No fancy words and no beating around the bush! A look at the title will tell you what it is about!

Yes, do go for it.It will definitely help the teens in not only understanding their body but also the changes and coping up of stuffs related to the mind and spirit.

Also a great book for the parents to talk to the kids about and also more useful to talk about things on topics that parents hesitate to discuss with kids!So it a book for parents with teenage kids [or soon to be teen kids] too.

Teens can go ahead and read this book. I asked my soon to be tween to read what is age appropriate for her. Meaning,I marked out some points for her to read and understand.

Though I do not agree with a couple of points in the book overall it is a good one for teens to keep their mind, body and spirit fit and fine!
