This Bread Kaja Recipe is a simple and easy dessert made with just 2 ingredients but will surely please your tastebuds!An ideal dish to prepare when you have leftover bread slices. Make this once and you will be tempted to make this over and over again!


We can also call this a simplified version of the famous Shahi Tukda / Double ka meeta which is famous in the hyderabadi cuisine. In the above recipe fried bread pieces are dunked in sweetened milk and served topped with nuts. Here, in this recipe we are just going to use sugar syrup.

The recipe is quite simple. The bread slices are cut diagoanlly and deep fried,dipped in sugar syrup and topped with nuts. I cut the bread slices into bite sized squares so that it becomes a finger food and is less messy.

A quick fix dessert with bread!

Course: Dessert

Ingredients
  • 4 slices Bread
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 pod Cardamom, crushed
  • Oil for Deep frying
  • Chopped nuts / dried fruits for garnishing
Instructions
  1. Remove the crust from the bread

  2. Cut the bread into diagonal pieces / bite sized squares

  3. Deep fry the bread pieces in oil till golden brown , drain and keep aside

  4. In a pan, heat together sugar and water. Let it boil. The syrup should be slightly sticky. Remove from heat.

  5. Dip the fried bread slices in sugar syrup till well coated.

  6. Arrange on a plate and garnish with chopped nuts / dried fruits. I used Tutti frutti.

  7. Enjoy the sweet and crispy Bread Kaja!
