This Corn Flakes Mixture | Chivda Recipe post that I have been wanting to write for quite some time,! I made this more than a couple of times and each time, I couldn’t click it. So I made a small batch just for this post!


The corn flakes that I used in this recipe is not the ready to eat breakfast cereal ones. We get the corn flakes like the one that you see in the picture below, which can be deep fried and eaten as such seasoned with spices or used in other recipes.

Corn flakes mixture is an addictive snack that can be stored and savored for over a week if it lasts that long! The snack jar will be empty in a couple of days for sure!

Corn Flakes Mixture Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Corn flakes
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • A handful Curry leaves
  • 1/4 cup Peanuts
  • 1/8 cup Roasted channa Dal / Pottukadalai
  • Salt to taste
Instructions
  1. Heat oil for deep frying

  2. Add a handful of the cornflakes once the oil is hot enough and fry them till they turn golden brown.

  3. Remove from oil as soon as they are done else they will turn dark brown / burn

  4. Fry in batches and drain on a kitchen towel.

  5. Keep aside

  6. In the same oil fry the peanuts, roasted channa dal and curry leaves individually

  7. Transfer it to the plate with the fried corn flakes.

  8. Add salt and red chili powder

  9. Mix well

  10. Serve or store in an air-tight container.
