This Sesame Fingers Recipe |Quick Snack Recipe is a perfect snack for kids and adults and is so easy to prepare too!


Last week my dear friend Vaishali who blogs at Ribbon’s to Pasta’s send me a huge parcel! Knowing my love for books, she send a boxful, of more than 25 cookbooks and I was overwhelmed seeing that treasure trove! Check out the Insta post to see all the books from that collection.

On see al these books, the kids started bookmarking the dishes that I have to cook for them and the first of those are these crispy and quick to prepare sesame fingers!

And I made this at the most appropriate time for the Food Bloggers Network group on Instagram where we are showcasing appetizers this fortnight.

The kids loved this snack and since it was already a little late in the evening , I coudn’t click a proper pic and Hopefully,I willbe able to click a better one soon.

Let’s see how to prepare this quick snack – Sesame Fingers Recipe

I used Tarla Dalal’s Recipe as the base and made it with whatever I had at hand. The original recipe has a mix of vegetables as the filling, but I used our regualr potato curry filling and it was so good!

We felt the bread absorbed a bit too much oil and so the next time we are planning to make this on a pan/griddle.

A quick and easy appetizer recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 no. Onion Peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic Peeled and grated
  • 1 inch piece Ginger Peeled and grated
  • 2 no. Potatoes, Large. Peeled,boiled and grated
  • 1 tsp Chilipowder Adjust to taste
  • 1/2 cup Maida / Plain flour
  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Sesame Seeds
  • 4 slices Bread
  • Oil – For Deep Frying
  • Salt to taste
Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a pan

  2. Add onion, garlic, and ginger and saute till onion is translucent

  3. Add the potato and add salt, chilli powder and mix well.

  4. Let it cook for a minute and remove from pan.Allow it to cool a bit

  5. In the mean time, mix the flour with water without any lumps.Keep aside

  6. Heat oil for frying

  7. Take a slice of bread and spread a layer of the potato filling

  8. Using a spoon spread the slurry over it

  9. Generously sprinkle the sesame seeds and pat down with the back of a spoon.

  10. Once the oil is hot, deep fry till the sesame seeds turn a little brown.

  11. Drain and cut into fingers

  12. Serve with chilli sauce, tomato sauce

Recipe Notes
  • You can use grated carrot, shredded cabbage, boiled peas along with potato
  • This can also be made on a griddle instead of deep frying.
  • Soya sauce can be added at the end before removing from the heat.
