Tomato Raita Recipe with step by step pictures
A good accompaniment to rice varieties and it is my fav side dish for Ven-pongal ,the famous South Indian breakfast dish. Yes, gotsu / tangy stew is the preferred side and even coconut sambar and chutney is a good side but I like this raita with Pongal!

Tomatoes – 2
Curd – 2 cups,fresh and thick
Curry leaves – a few
Red chilles -2 ,broken into bits
Salt-To taste
Seasoning:
Mustard seeds -1/2 teaspoon
Urad dhal – 1/2 teaspoon
Asafoetida- a pinch
Pressure cook / microwave the tomato, peel and mash well.Let it cool completely.
Beat the yogurt well. Add salt, mashed tomato and mix once more
Heat a small pan with oil and add mustard, red chili, curry leaves.
