I got introduced to Arundhathi –Raaga of ‘The Singing Chef’,when we ran the recipe Marathon # 2. I admired her blog which had baked goods, traditional recipes and her quick fixes put up very in a remarkable way.Though I had bookmarked several of her recipes during the marathon ,I never got around to trying them.
When Divya of Dil Se who is hosting The March edition of Tried and Tasted announced the blog for Tried and tested ,I was very glad that she had chosen Raaga!!!So with in two days I prepared 5 recipes from her blog and here they are…
I am posting all of them today.I have suddenly got into a phase where I don’t want to keep scheduling the posting .Maybe one day I will out-grow this habit but until then friends, please bear with me.
The first one that I tried was a simple Channa Salad. It reminded me of Bhel puri ,maybe because of the inter mingling taste of coriander and onion that are found in both the dishes. I enjoyed it with hot chapathis.
Here is the thali I had for lunch with 2 dishes from Arundhathi’s blog-Channa salad and Aloo Matar..
First let’s see the simple Channa salad…
I used:
Boiled chickpeas -1 cup
Chopped onion -1 tablespoon
Chopped Tomato-1 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Grind to a fine paste
Coriander leaves-a small bunch
Garlic-2 pods
Ginger –a small piece
Green chillies-2
Lemon juice to taste
Take the chickpeas, onion and tomato in a bowl. Put in the ground paste and salt and toss to mix.
I made the mistake of adding a little water while grinding and hence the chutney was watery. I added a few boiled chickpeas to the chutney and ground it again and then added the paste to the salad.
This can be served as a snack or a side dish for chapathi.
