Last month I joined Priya’s Shhhhh Cooking secretly Challenge. I was partnered with Satya of Appetite Treats and after a few Whatapp exchanges, we got each others secret ingredient that we are supposed to use in our dish.Out of the two ingredients, I chose Mushroom and made this simple curry that goes well with steamed rice and Chapathi.
I would love to write more on this Challenge but the lack of time stops me.Will do so in next months post for sure.I was supposed to have posted this last week, but better late than never…
I used:
Button mushrooms-20,cleaned and quartered
Onion-2,peeled and roughly chopped
Tomato-2 , roughly chopped
Capsicum-1,small, cut into small pieces
Green chilies-3
Saunf-1 teaspoon
Peppercorns-1 teaspoon
Garlic-3 pods
Ginger-1″ piece
Cardamom-1
Cinnamon pieces-2 ,small
Clove-1
Salt to taste
Oil-2 teaspoons
Make a coarse paste of green chilies, garlic, ginger, pepper and saunf and keep aside. Make a coarse paste of onion without adding water.Puree tomato without adding water.
Heat oil in a pan and add the cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. Next put in the onion paste and saute till it turns pink.Next in goes the green paste mixture.Saute on medium flame for 3 minutes.
Add the tomato puree and mix well and cook till the mixture turns brown.Add the capsicum and mushroom.Mix well.
Add salt and cook till the veggies are done. There is no need to add water as the moisture from the mushroom is sufficient.
The simple curry is ready to be served…
Bon Appetit…
