This is Verkadalai Chapathi | Peanut Spice-mix stuffed Chapathi is yet another dish that got done a week before the A-Z flat bread series started . This was mom’s idea and it sounded delicious.
The stuffing is very simple – peanut ,a little roasted channa dal,and red chilies, roasted and powdered. This can be made ahead and used as needed.
Since the filling is flavorful, you can have this with curd / a glass of buttermilk. This spice mix can also be used to flavor vegetable curries and mixed rice varieties!
Here is how to prepare Verkadalai Chapathi | Peanut Spice-mix stuffed Chapathi
Take wheat flour, salt in a bowl.Mix well.
Add water little by little and knead to a smooth non sticky dough. add a teaspoon of oil and knead once more.
Roast peanuts on medium flame till the skin turns brown and small black spot appear. Let it cool. Rub the peanuts between your palm to remove the skin.You can also leave it on if you wish.Roast roasted channa dal / potukkadalai and red chilies till it turns brown.Cool and take all the roasted ingredients in a mixie jar.
Powder the ingredients and transfer into a bowl. Add roasted cumin seeds and salt. Mix and keep aside.
Take a small ball of dough and flatten it a bit. Place a tablespoon of the filling and bring the edges together.Roll out gently into a 4″-5″ circle. Cook on a heated griddle till brown spots apprear on both sides. Remove from griddle and repeat for the remaining dough.
Serve with a side of your choice.

An awesome flatbread with a spicy peanut and chana dal filling. A good flatbread for brunch or anytime meal. Hubby would love it as its got peanuts.
