Samai More Kanji | Little Millet Porridge Recipe is a very apt breakfast during these hot summer days. The whole of March has been very hot and sunny and the we preferred to take light meals. And in between we needed something cool and refreshing.

This Samai More Kanji | Little Millet Porridge Recipe can be served as a light lunch or as a refreshing drink.

The fenugreek and the buttermilk added to this dish cools the body and prevents heat related complications.

When I decided to take up Millets as the theme for this month,I started making the dishes and served it to my family. My parents taste all my experiments without a word and give their honest feedback.

The kids ,on the other hand, taste and comment based on their mood and preferences / likes and dislikes of a particular ingredient.

So this time, I never told any one what I was serving. I just said, ‘taste this buttermilk’ or ‘ what do you feel about the ladoo’, etc.

The unsuspecting kids were all in praise of the new dishes, well, at least for the majority of the dishes and only after the dish was over did I tell them what went into it!

The kids soon caught up with my tricks and started asking which millet I had hidden in the dish and would try to guess it.

This started happening with the regular dishes as well and I had a tough time convincing them that it was the regular dish and had no hidden ingredient!

Either way, they were happy to taste the new dishes as I had selected recipes that the kids would like to have.

This Samai More Kanji | Little Millet Porridge Recipe was served as a mid afternoon drink on a hot day in March and everyone drank it up without a word. All of them liked it and my parents liked the toppings of seasonings and shallots.

The kids had it like the regular buttermilk, thinned and without the topping.

You can never find out that there is a millet hidden in this dish unless you tell them what is being served!
