A couple of weeks back, Sharmi and I were invited for a menu tasting session at Planet Barbecue , a multi cuisine restaurant which is a part of the Hash hotels!

It is a luxury business class hotel with 85 rooms to offer across premium rooms and suite.  Its complimented by facilities such as swimming pool, spa & gymnasium, 24 hours rooms service, four spacious banquet halls catering from 40 to 400 guests and a parking space for 100+ cars.

I will first treat you with the pictures and please proceed to read my review at the end of the post.

At the entrance we were given a very traditional welcome and the decor was superb.

Mr. Uday Baskar, the GM of the hotel, showed us around the and invited us to Planet Barbeque.

The place has a trendy and nice interior and the buffet was just getting laid out.

We were told that “Planet Barbeque” the multi cuisine restaurant has a wide choice for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. Be it  mushroom salt & pepper, stir fried babycorn or sheik kebab, all on shashlik sticks, the barbecue experience on the table will leave you enthralled. The variety of seasonings used, curated by their chefs keeps one asking for more.

When so much was said , the expectation grew many fold!

The welcome drink was the first to appear on the table. It was deliciously cool and soothing .Aptly name Saffron Bartenders Special Mocktail, it had a hint of saffron and lychee with a light lime-orange undertone!

We were then shown around the FUNC restobar…

” FUNC” restobar is artistically designed with a seating capacity of 75+ guests and has become the hot favorite of the town. Their deftly crafted choice of cocktail use a meaningful blend of local varieties such as ‘Nongu’, Tender coconut water , ‘ Thandai’ etc. Complimenting these cocktails are a few lip smacking snacks such as ‘Beer Batter Chicken’, ‘Arabian Kheema samosas’, ‘Caribbean smoked vegetables’ etc.ย  DJ Brett & DJ Venessa rock the night with their groovy hits and peppy numbers.

The first pic is the entrance from inside the hotel and the trendy and striking blur colored entrance is from outside the hotel.

The interior is very different and has a totally different feel inside. Take a look…

Here is my review on the menu at Hash Six Hotels – Planet Barbecue Restaurant

The thing that impressed me the most was the vegetarian menu. In many restaurants, the buffet has a lot of stuff for the non vegetarians and the ones that are on the vegetarian menu is so-so and most of it won’t be interesting!

At planet Barbecue, the vegetarian menu was superb. Plenty to choose from and they have definitely taken their time to curate the menu.

The mocktail was very good. The grilled veggies esp. mushroom, baby corn were my favorite. I loved the green salad . The ghee rice was very flavorful and si was the panch mesly subzi. The main highlight of the meal was the kathirikai kara kuzhmabu,a signature dish of the chef.

At first I did not add it to my plate but later Mr. Uday Baskar insisted that I try.The brinjal just melts in the mouth and the gravy had all the right elements! I was pretty glad that I tried it!

Another thing I like is the dainty coin parotta with mutton sukka. Though I did not try it, it is a very nice way to serve parotta. Bite sized portion with the gravy on top looked brilliant!

The bread basket had cute little breads and I didn’t even feel like eating those !

The noodles and the pasta were good and the desserts were to die for! It was good to see a wide selection of pastries as well as Indian desserts.

The live counter had sweet samosa on the day we went. There was a choice of seviyan filling and mava filling and both were extremely delicious.

On the whole it was a very good menu. .The spice levels were just right and none of the dishes felt over powering. The masalas were in the right proportion and very delicious.

I would definitely go there with my family again. There is a lot of dishes on their menu that will attract kids and after seeing the pics that I clicked my kids are dying to go there soon.

A huge thanks to the Hash 6 team for having us over and to Mr. Uday Baskar for the hospitality and spending his valuable time with us explaining the menu and for taking us around the hotel.
