Talk about Roti / Chapathi and Lil Dude’s face will light up immediately! Such is his love for flat breads! He will happily have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and even in between. I sometimes wonder where he caught this ‘Roti bug’!!
So when I saw the theme – Break basket in the Blogging marathon announcement,I was sure this would be a theme that I would enjoy making and one that Lil Dude would love. In this theme we got to make a mixed-in / stuffed / deep fried flat bread. This mixed-in Roti is for Blogging Marathon #49, Week 2,Day 1.
I used:
Whole wheat flour- 2 cups
Quick cooking oats-1 cup
Finely chopped spring onion greens – 1/2 cup
Kalonji-1 teaspoon
Oil 1 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Take all the ingredients in a bowl. Mix well and add water little by little and knead to a smooth dough. Pinch out a golf ball sized piece of dough and roll out into a roti. Cook on a heated griddle till both sides have brown spots. Remove from griddle and serve…
I served this with Tofu – Baby corn masala gravy…
Bon Appetit…
Lovely and healthy twist to the parathas PJ! It is the same in my house, paratha or roti makes my little guys happy as well ๐
Adding oats will make them healthier. I always powder oats before making the dough but your idea of directly adding it seems the easy way.
Looks great and flavorful, I have always liked spring onion…and kalonji has such a amazing flavor.its good that your lo likes roti at least you are one happy mother not running after him.
